My name is Caleb Dyer, and I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Sport and Entertainment Management. Throughout my time at Carolina, I have developed a passion for the business and operations side of the sports industry and gained valuable experience through both my coursework and professional experiences.

My college experience has given me the opportunity to learn about the many different aspects of the sports industry, but my experiences outside of the classroom have been just as important to my development. One of the most meaningful experiences of my college career was working with the PGA of America in event operations. Through my work on major championship events, I was able to take the concepts I learned in the classroom and apply them in a fast-paced professional environment.

Working in sports taught me that successful events require much more than what fans see when they walk through the gates. They require communication, preparation, organization, adaptability, teamwork, and the ability to solve problems when things do not go according to plan. My experiences working behind the scenes at major sporting events helped me develop these skills and gave me a much better understanding of what it takes to successfully operate a large-scale sporting event.

My experiences at the University of South Carolina and with the PGA of America have also helped me better understand what I want from my future career. I want to continue working in the sports industry and use the skills I have developed through my education and professional experiences to contribute to organizations that create memorable experiences for athletes, fans, and communities.

This ePortfolio represents my growth throughout my college career. It brings together the experiences, knowledge, and skills I developed both inside and outside of the classroom. Through my key insights and leadership reflection, I will demonstrate how my academic experiences and professional experiences have influenced the way I approach leadership, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and professional development. More than anything, this portfolio represents the person I have become throughout my time at Carolina and the foundation I have built for my future career in the sports industry.
